About the Workshop
This half-day class will be taught by our team, catering to adults looking to learn the basics of automotive maintenance. Following the same structure as the Teen Auto Workshop series, one of our experienced mechanics will lead the class through understanding the basics of working on a car in a safe and careful manner.

About the Event
This half-day class features a mixture of classroom teaching and hands-on experience led by our trained mechanics in our mechanic shop. Students will learn about basic maintenance and how an electric or hybrid car runs. Topics include the basics of safety, tool recognition, basic diagnosis of simple problems, how to change a tire, and how to maintain the battery.
For those eager to share this knowledge with the next generation, the workshop invites participants between ages 15 and 19, offering a unique opportunity for young enthusiasts to delve into the world of automotive care. Guardians may accompany minors but can not participate in the workshop, and are free to explore the museum but may not leave the museum during the workshop. Admission not included with workshop.

Teen Auto Workshop - SUMMER Series
About the Series
Join us for our 8-week summer program of automotive workshops that focus on the care and maintenance of automobiles. These hands-on sessions led by industry experts allow you to learn the techniques and procedures to work on cars.
For those eager to learn, the Petersen Automotive Museum invites participants between ages 15 and 19 to sign up for the program below. You must be able to attend at least 6 of the 8 weeks of workshops. Guardians may accompany minors but are not allowed to participate in the workshops, and are welcome to explore the museum if they wish to remain on-site. The parking garage employs a 15-minute grace period for drop-offs and pick-ups.

The Acceler8 Teen Auto Class is taking place July 8th to July 12th at the Petersen. Sign Ups can happen by emailing info@acceler8education.org.
This class is in partnership with us and everyone on the Collections team is aware that it is happening.
Acceler8 is an automotive youth program dedicated to fostering innovation and opportunity for young men and women. Classes will cover oil and lube as well as tires and breaks. Students will also enjoy tours and special guests visits at the museum.

This workshop series is absolutely free of charge. However, you must intend to attend all 8 sessions, with a minimum of 6.

We are asking that all participants who sign up are ready to attend all 8 sessions. However, we are only requiring a minimum of 6.

No, a present parent or guardian is not required to participate in this workshop program. For those who are being dropped off, the parking garage has a 15-minute grace period — please do not block the entrance of the museum.

The event kicks off on July 13th, and runs every Saturday until August 31st. You must participate in at least 6 of the 8 workshops, but we ask that you attend each one if possible.

The Teen Auto Workshop, presented by the Petersen Automotive Museum, is a program for high school students to learn the basics of automotive mechanics while working on a car in the Museum's collection. Students will learn about the various parts of a car while performing repairs and upgrades on a Museum vehicle.
