Motorcycle Mary: Panel Discussion & All-Day Screening

About the Event

Join us at the Petersen Automotive Museum for an exclusive all-day screening of Motorcycle Mary, the untold story of legendary motorsports pioneer Mary McGee. Featuring stunning never-before-seen archival footage and stills, this documentary chronicles McGee’s fearless 30-year racing career, during which she shattered gender norms and mastered multiple racing disciplines.

The film will be screening all day, with a special panel discussion from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM featuring the creators of the documentary. Don’t miss this opportunity to dive into the incredible legacy of a true trailblazer in motorsports.

Rated TV-14. Total runtime: 23 minutes.

About the Event

Join the Petersen Automotive Museum for an exclusive panel featuring renowned designers from Mattel, the creative minds behind some of the world's most beloved toys. Discover the artistry, innovation, and passion that go into every Mattel creation as these experts share insights and behind-the-scenes stories from their illustrious careers.

As a special opportunity, the iconic pink Barbie Corvette will be on display for photoshoots! Please note that as with other vehicles on display at the museum, touching the car and sitting inside is prohibited.   

Following the panel, stay for a special screening of the hit Barbie movie; dress in your best pink outfit and bring the whole family to this unique movie night!

This Movie Night event is absolutely FREE for the entire community! Join us for an unforgettable viewing of the Barbie movie!

About the Panel

Alena Niu - Director Product Design, Mattel (Monster High and Fashion Doll IP)

Alena Niu is a toy designer from New York now living in Los Angeles. She is the Director of Product Design for the Dolls Team at Mattel which includes the Monster High and Polly Pocket product lines.  

Alena has been in the toy industry for almost 15 years working on Disney and Nickelodeon licensed toys for Fisher-Price, Barbie, Creatable World and other brands.  Her newest job is being a mom to a 2-year-old and she is excited to share her life-long love of fun and toys with him!

 

Bryan Benedict - Key Principal Designer, Mattel (Hot Wheels® and Matchbox®)

Bryan Benedict is responsible for some of the hottest Mattel Creations drops from their diecast brands, Hot Wheels® and Matchbox®. Bryan graduated in 1994 with a degree in Transportation Design from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. He spent 10 years in the car industry working with OEMs including Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Ford, GM and Chrysler and many more.

Bryan’s hottest creations include the Hot Wheels x Gucci Seville, the Hot Wheels x Run The Jewels x Volcom ’87 Buick Regal GNX, and the Hot Wheels x Nike x Paul George Circle Tracker, among other awesome special diecasts.

 

Julia Kyle - Senior Creative Director, Mattel

Julia Kyle is a Senior Creative Director at Mattel, and oversees graphics, content & gaming for the Dolls Portfolio of brands. Prior to her current role, she was the creative lead for global consumer products for all Mattel Brands, which included developing pitches for new business, setting the creative vision for style guide development, and working with licensees to develop product across 50+ categories and in over 150 countries.

Back in 2007, her passion for storytelling helped develop and pitch the initial concept for Monster High, and in 2020 she was responsible for how the characters evolved creatively across content and consumer products for the relaunch of the brand. Julia Kyle holds a degree from Otis College of Art & Design, and resides with her family in Long Beach, California. 

 

Livia Roustan - Director of Package Design, Mattel

Livia Roustan joined Mattel in August 2014, initially focused on packaging for some of the Action Figures brands, where she quickly rose to lead the entire team. She currently leads the Vehicles Packaging team, along with the Creative Operations team, fostering innovative designs.

Throughout her tenure, Livia has championed collaboration and creativity, guiding her team with unwavering passion and dedication. Recognizing the pivotal role of purposeful package design in enhancing the product experience, Livia brings a keen understanding of consumer preferences, a deep respect for brand identity, and a meticulous approach to production considerations, consistently delivering exceptional results and building relationships along the way.
